Familienforschung Stockstadt am Main

Main issue of this site is to research the emigration to the United States. But we know about a migration within Europe that shall not be neglected. Research results on this subject are presented in German. Please contact me if you would like to correspond in English.

European Migration

17th and 18th Century

Immigration to Stockstadt from European countries is an interesting subject. Especially after the so-called 30-year-war (1618-1648) some regions of Germany were almost depopulated - amongst them Stockstadt am Main. The immigration of foreigners was not only welcome, but also basic to the development of the new place. Some of the new inhabitants were descendants of huguenot and wallone families. I am particularly interested in huguenot families since I have come across a supposedly huguenot lineage in my own family.

European Migration

18th and 19th Century

In the 18th and 19th century some families left Stockstadt to settle in Hungary or other European countries. Many others from the region and the Spessart took their chance to begin a new and hopefully prosperous life. Any hint on them and their lives is welcome although this is not the main issue of this site.

European Migration

20th Century

After WW II, lots of people from former eastern parts of Germany settled in Stockstadt am Main. Again due to a lineage in my family, I started searching for ancestors of Stockstadt families coming from Bohemia and the former Sudetenland.

The project has just been started.
It will take time to proceed.

European Migration

20 and 21th Century

The immigrants from European countries during the 20th century - like Italy, Greece or Turkey will not be subject of this website - although definitely interesting as well. I would like to ask families to collect all dates and write down their family stories. Researchers might be happy to find any information available in the future.
