[...] Edmund Gehrig, 75, A Pioneer, Laid to Rest. Aged Pocahontas Resident Buried in Calvary Cemetery Saturday. Lived in County for Fifty Years. Death followed two Week's illness at home of daughter, Mrs Elsasser. The funeral services for Edmund Gehrig, 75 years old, a pioneer Pocahontas county resident, who died at his home here Thursday evening were held at Sacred Heart Church at 9:00 o'clock Saturday morning. The Reverend Father G. F. Wessling officiated.

Mr Gehrig died about 6 o'clock Thursday night following an illness of only two weeks. he died eight yours to the day after he suffered a stroke. He is survived by his daughter at whose home he lived, Mrs H. M. Elsasser, and another daughter, Miss Eleanor Gehrig of Fort Dodge, a nurse at Mercy Hospital, two stepsons, Albert Shimon, Pocahontas, and Lawrence Shimon, of Gilmore City, 3 granddaughters, Agnes Leona Elsasser, of Pocahontas, and one great granddaughter, Jeanette Ann Lilly, daughter of Mr and Mrs Lilly. Mr Gehrig is also survived by a brother, Emanuel Gehrig of Barnsvill, Minnesota.

Mr Gehrig was born in Germany October 13, 1858, and came to this country while a young man. He settled first in Carroll County on a farm and about 50 years ago, moved to Pocahontas County which had remained his home ever since.

Burial was mad in Calvary Cemetery here. The following old friends acted as pallbearers: John Kleen, John Shors, Frank Eberle, Pat Wolfe, Joe Seifried and F. E. Hronek. .
